Thanks Steve. My new landing gear/gimbal mount arrived today along with some cracking servo tape. Big rebuild tomorrow!

So build nearly complete. GPS tracker fitted and just waiting for the FPV gear now. I have to say I'm getting a bit worried about the weight. I am at 1600g without the FPV Tx and camera!

As far as I can see the limit is around 2200 g. We'll see at the weekend!

Well. That didn't work. 8 inch props and it will hardly fly. With 10 inch props it flew but unstable. Looks like I need bigger motors/batteries!

Rx'd my new RunCam FPV camera today. Looks very nice. At least it is very light but beginning to think that this quad will be incapable of handling the load.

John, have you tried plugging your quad spec into Ecalc?
It allows you to change various parameters, motor, battery, prop.
It'll hopefully give you an idea of what you may need to change.

2.2 kg's seem heavy for your setup.
I thought the 450 quads were lighter than that, even when fully loaded with gimbal and FPV.

As an example, with mine fully loaded, Gimbal, GoPro, FPV etc.
1) Quad only, no battery = 1.669 kg's
2) As above with one battery = 1.859 kg's
3) As above with 2 batteries - 2.049 kg's.

Your setup isn't a million miles different to mine apart from I run 2 batteries. Mine isn't a rocket ship by any means. It does fly solidly though, enough thrust and speed to get me where I need to go, whilst keeping everything steady. She holds in position as if on a virtual tripod when conditions allow.

Have a crack at Ecalc, and see if one parameter will give you better results.

Let me know how you get on with the FPV cam, when you get it sorted out.

First the good news! Fully loaded, it flies like a dream on 10 inch props. Once I took off it needed a few minutes for the gps to steady but then it sat beautifully in a hold position. Now the bad news. I was so excited that it all worked that I forgot to set the timer and happily flew around until all of a sudden the quad lost height and started to descend quite rapidly. I managed to slow it a bit but it made quite a hard landing and one on the legs of my new landing gear snapped! Hopefully I can glue it together. Overall, very happy. I didn't use the FPV as I'm waiting on a power cable for the TX but it was all on board. I have tried the FPV gear unmounted and it is very good.
